Honda Expands Alabama Plant

Honda is coming to America. Well, it's actually already here. Honda vehicles distributed in North America, to dealers including Red River Honda, produce those Denison, TX sold models in the Southern US. Their Alabama plant just got the word that it will expand.

The Japanese auto maker has $84 million to invest in this plan, and will hire over 100 workers to expand production of this Alabama assembly line.

According to reports, "The investment will boost annual capacity for the LINCOLN, Alabama, plant to 340,000 vehicles and engines by 2013 from 300,000 now, Honda said in a statement on its website late yesterday. The plant employs more than 4,000 people."1

Since 2001, the LINCOLN, AL facility has been home to the Honda Odyssey minivan, Honda Pilot SUV, and Honda Ridgeline full-sized pickup.

Demand for new Honda cars and trucks grew 10% this year - predictions state that total sales of 13 million vehicles in 2011 are expected from this and other auto makers.

Other Honda plants have also been ordered to shift production, in response to a major plant shut down in Thailand after flooding devastated much of that region.
