The Honda Civic has been a popular car among consumers largely due to the vehicle's dependable nature and strong brand backing. Many might think redesigning it would be a risky move for Honda. But recently, sources have given us good reason to believe that the 2013 Civic model will see some invigorating style changes.
In one review, AutoGuide commented that the Civic Si needs "an injection of testosterone."1 Other Honda followers have brought up the model's lack of dramatic design. In a recent meeting, corporate big wigs and West Coast Honda Dealers, addressed complaints such as these. And while the automaker certainly has enough of a following to ignore these comments, it's looking like Honda has decided to keep its ears wide open. The 2013 Civic is expected to hit the market later on in the year, closer to December 2012, so that designers have enough time to develop a refresh that will satisfy all consumers - from the dependable to the daring.
Until that time, Red River Honda is perfectly content to carry the 2012 Honda Civic and other new Honda models. Unlike previous variants, the current Civic holds a new Intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID) which allows drivers to connect with their car. In addition, it has an added 1.6-inches of leg room, a shorter wheelbase for agility, and a noteworthy 20 to 58 pound drop in weight.
To those who think that these changes aren't enough to gain consumer hold, we ask you to think twice about the necessity of deviation from the original. According to AutoGuide, Honda unloads more Civic models per year within our borders than Volkswagen, Chrysler or Mazda sell cars across their lineups. In fact, these automakers and others are pumping out redesigns left and right simply to try and pry Civic fans away from their trusty vehicle.
