Honda Civic Hybrid, How Green Can It Get?


You've been hearing a lot about the Honda Civic Hybrid lately - and why not? The vehicle takes one of the Japanese auto maker's best selling vehicles (year after year) and adds a fully hybrid engine, producing greater miles per gallon and longer driving range. But just how "green" is Civic Hybrid?


EPA estimates put this vehicle at an equal 44 MPG City and Highway. With a starting price around $24,000 (before tax credits), it's a bargain.

The days when yellow-stickered partial-hybrid vehicles were allowed to travel with a single passenger on designated HOV areas of California state highways are over. As of July 1, yellow-sticker vehicles must meet a higher passenger quota to gain access to these highly coveted driving zones. Luckily, super-ultralow-emission vehicles, such as the natural-gas-powered Honda Civic, get a different white-colored sticker. And, all cars, including the Honda NGV, will continue to have single-passenger access to HOV areas on California state highways for another four years.

Honda Named Greenest Car Manufacture
