Honda Civic Hybrid, How Green Can It Get?

You've been hearing a lot about the Honda Civic Hybrid lately - and why not? The vehicle takes one of the Japanese auto maker's best selling vehicles (year after year) and adds a fully hybrid engine, producing greater miles per gallon and longer driving range. But just how "green" is Civic Hybrid?

EPA estimates put this vehicle at an equal 44 MPG City and Highway. With a starting price around $24,000 (before tax credits), it's a bargain.

Civic Hybrid does have a moderate electric engine, relying mostly on the gasoline powerplant to push the vehicle along. It…

Honda Environmental Efforts Paying Off

Saying Honda was ahead of its time was an understatement.  Back in 1992, they issued the "Honda Environmental Statement", which outlined its plan to proactively preserve the environment.   Recycling and conservation of materials was at the heart of the plan - from product conception to production.  To improve transparency Honda started releasing annual environmental reports, which survey the impact their operations have across the North American Region. On January 23 2012, Honda released their latest findings from 2011. Red River Honda is happy to say, Honda's painstaking attention to detail is paying off.

The Manual 2012 Honda CR-Z

In recent years the manual transmission has become increasingly more popular.  A couple benefits include a lower cost vehicle, simplicity and fuel efficiency.  We at Red River Honda are not sure exactly why this trend is happing but we do know that Honda will offer a manual drive variant of its 2012 CR-Z.

For those of you who are not familiar with the CR-Z.  Its hybrid powertrain connects a 1.5 liter 16-valve iVTEC engine with a 10kW electric motor, which makes use of Honda's state-of-the-art IMA technology.

Inside, low resting seats and a high arching rear give optimal…

According to Japanese magazine Nikkei, "The decision to sell the natural gas Civic throughout the United States is in response to increased interest in green cars and fuel efficient cars." This comes out as the Japanese auto maker introduces their Civic CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) car to various dealerships including Red River Honda in Denison, TX.1

Official pricing of Honda Civic Natural Gas is a base MSRP of $26,155. The vehicle will be available for test drives at 200 dealers throughout the US, as well as vehicles coming to Canada.

CNG Civic is powered by a modified version…

All-New Honda EV is Just Around the Corner

Can you name all five available Honda hybrid and alternative-fuel-powered vehicles?  If you can't they're the Honda CR-Z Sport Hybrid, Honda Insight Hybrid, Honda Civic Hybrid Sedan, Honda Natural Gas-Powered Civic, and Honda FCX Clarity. For 2012, Honda is planning on launching a plug-in hybrid and shortly after a full electric vehicle.

Recently Honda unveiled both vehicles at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The Honda EV will be fitted with a lithium-ion battery and coaxial motor for a 100-mile driving range and top speed of 90 miles per hour (mph).  We at Red River Honda can't wait for…

The days when yellow-stickered partial-hybrid vehicles were allowed to travel with a single passenger on designated HOV areas of California state highways are over. As of July 1, yellow-sticker vehicles must meet a higher passenger quota to gain access to these highly coveted driving zones. Luckily, super-ultralow-emission vehicles, such as the natural-gas-powered Honda Civic, get a different white-colored sticker. And, all cars, including the Honda NGV, will continue to have single-passenger access to HOV areas on California state highways for another four years.

Naturally, we're psyched. Especially, as the 2012 Honda Civic NGV comes out this fall, giving California…
